Google is already making changes to their search results based on Mobile. They now include a phone icon next to the organic snippet for websites that have a mobile version of the site and you can already see the PPC and Organic results are different on your smartphone. On average, our B2B clients are seeing 20-24% of their traffic coming from mobile devices this year. That's a huge number to ignore and it will only continue to grow.
So the question is just what should you be doing to accommodate those users who search on their mobile device? First you need to create a mobile version of your website. We aren't talking about some plugin that simply turns your existing website into a mile long scrolling version on a smartphone. We're talking about a site designed specifically for the mobile phone environment. Although keeping the design in line with your existing site is important, you also have many additional features available that you don't have on the desktop version. You can create a click to call function, bookmark to home screen, directions from location etc. Anything you can do on your main website you can do even better on your mobile website including ecommerce and product catalogs.
Please give us a thumbs up if you found this to be useful and also let us know if you have specific B2B internet marketing qustions you would like to see us cover. Check back for more on B2B mobile websites and mobile apps!
